The Company
The company is an international JV company with a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Yangon to supply the domestic and ASEAN export market with specialist industrial materials that support the real estate and infrastructure sectors. It is deeply committed to Myanmar for the long-term and this includes further planned expansion of its manufacturing facility. In Yangon, the corporate team comprises expatriate and experienced Myanmar repatriates with impeccable international credentials whilst the company is proud of its inclusive and collaborative culture. As it prepares for its next phase of growth, it wishes to appoint a well-rounded GM for Operations.
The Position
Reporting to an international CEO, whilst leading around 15-20 direct reports, the appointed individual will undertake a COO-type role whilst preparing the company for its next phase of growth and which will lift employee numbers to around 300+ within the next 12-24 months. The GM will steer the company organizational structure and corporate values whilst ensuring adequate planning and implementation of critical resources to meet the capacity needs of the business whilst taking responsibility for key corporate functions including HR, Legal, Finance, IT and Public/Government Relations. Necessarily, this will require strategic development and hands-on engagement with each respective team to achieve a sophisticated level of company-wide support. As such, aligning all operational processes, policies and systems to meet local regulations and to support domestic and international commercial growth and financial success of the business will be critical; for example, this will include managing operating costs, attending to corporate risk, Government Relations, review of HR performance (incentives/training/development), the development of robust corporate technology and infrastructure complete through to the management of business travel, office facilities and general administration. As the appointee will deputise for the CEO, there will be a need to build understanding of the firm’s front-office functions (sales, marketing, commercial management) whilst offering strategic input to these areas of the business too.

The Person
Interested candidates will ideally offer proven Executive leadership and 20-30 years’ local and international experience secured in manufacturing/projects/supply chain/finance functions and preferably within noted MNCs. You will demonstrate high level of initiative and ability to independently manage and prioritise multiple tasks whilst building strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Board, management peers and shopfloor) and external stakeholders (Government, business and trade organisations). A Degree in Business/Engineering/Finance is required whilst a Masters’ is strongly preferred.
As this position is a permanent position located in Yangon, candidates must be Myanmar nationals offering excellent bi-lingual Burmese and English language skills.
