Job description

  • Generic Pharma OTC & Nutraceuticals

  • Organic & M&A Expansion

  • Location: California

  • USD$150-165k base + profit-share

The Company

The company is an entrepreneurial international company with Group headquarters based in SE Asia. In the USA, the firm consists of an operational contract manufacturing pharmaceutical plant and a second, recently-completed fully-integrated facility, dedicated to its core nutraceuticals (vitamins/health) & OTC medicines and supplements (gels/tablets) business comprising 300+ FDA-approved SKUs (pills/tablets/capsules/creams) shipped across the US and to SE Asia. The business is poised for substantial growth as a result of planned organic growth and via recently completed and ongoing JV and equity investment activity in well-established, successful brands. There is now a requirement to appoint a Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The Position

Reporting to the Group CEO, the appointed individual will play an important role to oversee and steer business operations strategy, development and growth whilst providing cross-functional, strategic leadership across all aspects of front-office business development and business planning through to back-end manufacturing, supply chain, plant management, QA, customer service, continuous improvement (OE) and, of course, Human Resources. As such, the role is very well-rounded given the need to oversee commercial activity and its impact upon manufacturing, legal and regulatory compliance, cGMP compliance and the effective implementation of company-wide policies and SOPs whilst also reviewing direct and indirect investment, acquisition evaluation, partner alliances and cohesive integration of operations to drive synergy.

Who will find this attractive?

This is a super opportunity for a suitably experienced mid-career professional seeking a hands-on leadership position within an entrepreneurial company offering a culture akin to a zesty start-up than a rigid big corporate. Moreover, an executive offering a combination of operational and commercial expertise may instead be elevated directly to CEO.

The Person

Interested candidates should offer a Degree and, preferably, an MBA complemented by a wealth of relevant operations management experience including at least 10 year’ experience in cGMP pharma/nutraceuticals manufacturing regulated by FDA. This experience will also be supported by extensive, well-rounded knowledge and experience of supply chain, product transfer, qualification and validation whilst equally equipped to evaluate processes, capital investments and partner due diligence. Naturally, interested individuals will offer strong leadership, multi-tasking, decision-making and interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate whilst developing strategies for growth.

Important Note: Only US citizens or candidates holding valid H1 Employment Visas already based in the USA and/or seeking a return are invited to apply.
