The platform is undergoing a period of transformation and growth, with increasing focus on digital lending, financial inclusion, and technology-led scale. Against this backdrop, risk management sits at the core of sustainable expansion, requiring strong governance, forward-looking frameworks, and close alignment with regulators and stakeholders.

This appointment represents a critical leadership role to strengthen enterprise-wide risk capability, ensuring resilience, regulatory alignment, and disciplined growth.

The Position

The Chief Risk Officer will lead the enterprise-wide risk management function across both the banking and digital financial services businesses.

Reporting directly to the respective CEOs and working closely with the Board and executive leadership team, the CRO will be responsible for defining and executing a comprehensive risk strategy aligned to the organisation’s growth ambitions and regulatory expectations.

The mandate encompasses full-spectrum risk oversight, including:

Enterprise Risk Leadership

Credit Risk (Core Focus Area)

  • Own the end-to-end credit risk framework across retail, SME, corporate, and digital lending portfolios

  • Oversee underwriting standards, approval frameworks, portfolio monitoring, and collections strategy

  • Provide governance across both relationship-managed lending and high-volume digital consumer finance portfolios

  • Embed data-driven decisioning, early warning frameworks, and disciplined portfolio management practices

Digital Lending & AI Governance

  • Provide independent oversight of analytics and AI-driven credit models

  • Ensure strong model risk governance including validation, monitoring, explainability, and fairness controls

  • Balance innovation with regulatory and risk discipline in scaling digital lending

Operational Risk & Resilience

  • Lead operational risk frameworks including RCSA, KRIs, and loss event management

  • Drive enterprise-wide resilience planning, including crisis and incident management protocols

  • Oversee fraud risk management across both traditional and digital channels

Liquidity & Treasury Risk

  • Partner with Finance and Treasury to oversee liquidity, capital adequacy, and balance sheet risks

  • Ensure disciplined management of CAR, LDR, stress testing, and contingency funding frameworks

Regulatory Engagement

  • Act as the primary interface with regulators and supervisory bodies

  • Lead regulatory reporting, audits, and inspections

  • Maintain proactive engagement and ensure alignment with evolving regulatory frameworks

Risk Culture & Governance

  • Embed a strong risk culture across the organisation

  • Drive training, awareness, and accountability at all levels

  • Ensure risk considerations are integrated into strategic and operational decision-making

The Person

The successful candidate will be a seasoned risk leader with deep experience across banking and financial services, ideally complemented by exposure to digital financial platforms.

Key requirements include:

  • Degree in Finance, Business, Law or related discipline; postgraduate qualifications preferred

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services risk management, with significant leadership exposure

  • Proven expertise across credit risk, including both corporate/SME lending and retail or digital lending environments

  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and experience engaging with financial regulators

  • Experience in emerging markets is essential; prior exposure to Southeast Asia or similar environments is highly advantageous

  • Familiarity with digital lending, analytics-driven credit decisioning, and model governance frameworks

  • Demonstrated ability to operate at Board and executive level, influencing strategy and driving alignment across stakeholders

In addition, the individual will bring:

  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to build and scale high-performing risk teams

  • Commercial judgement balanced with disciplined risk management
