The Company

The company is dynamic, well-respected and offers a strong brand presence in Cambodia whilst building a broad portfolio of business interests. Supported by a massive investment commitment, its Retail division will grow at an exponential rate over the next 5 years. Consisting of vertically-integrated shopping centre, supermarket, F&B and leisure and mixed-use components, the firm hopes to become the market-leader across the nation. To enable this, the firm is now seeking to appoint a seasoned Retail Specialist to spearhead leasing and expansion management to support new and proposed development projects. This is a fantastic ‘blank canvas’ long-term growth opportunity within a fast-expanding, emerging market.

The Position 

Reporting to an international CEO, the successful candidate will primarily drive every aspect of retail leasing to attract local, regional and global branded tenants for a cluster of mega mall (to 160k sqm) and neighbourhood mall concepts (to 45k sqm). The broad scope will include the recommendation of retail concepts for each mall, tenant sourcing, terms negotiation (new leases and renewals) and the strategic development and implementation of advertising and promotion strategy. This will include the need to undertake market studies and preparation of international partnering strategies to secure branded tenants whilst achieving appropriate tenant mix. Aside from achieving full occupation and revenue targets complemented by budget forecasts and reporting, the appointed individual will closely collaborate with development and property management teams to ensure concept execution is in alignment with the vision of the division. There will be a need to develop appropriate marketing collateral and craft rules and regulations for tenancy agreements whilst building strategies for tenant relationship management and retention and considerable pre-development planning and direction for additional retail assets as they arise each year. The appointed individual my need to provide extensive coaching to local fashion brands to assist their transition into international-class Mall operations.

The Person

Interested candidates will be degree-holders (Real Estate/Business) who ideally possess 10+ years’ relevant retail leasing/expansion management experience preferably having been exposed to multi-format retail mall environments within both developed and emerging markets. Prior experience gained within Asia is also strongly preferred complete with a proven ability to adapt to new markets and to work within cross-cultural teams whilst under pressure. Offering a strong network of international retailers will be desirable whilst a proven ability to lead and develop leasing/marketing teams and formulate appropriate tenant mix and space planning is essential.
