The Position

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Architectural Design Director will lead the company's architectural design department and be responsible for establishing the overall design vision, strategy, and standards across the development portfolio. The role will oversee the full architectural design lifecycle from concept development through detailed design, consultant coordination, authority approvals, and construction support.

The successful candidate will manage both internal design teams and external consultants to ensure projects achieve the highest standards of design excellence, functionality, market relevance, commercial viability, and buildability. This individual will play a key role in driving innovation, value engineering initiatives, sustainable design practices, and continuous improvement of design processes while ensuring timely delivery of all design packages.

The position will work closely with development, project management, sales, marketing, quantity surveying, procurement, and construction teams to align design outcomes with business objectives, customer expectations, project budgets, and delivery schedules. The role will also provide technical leadership during construction phases and support stakeholder engagement with government authorities and regulatory bodies.

The Person

The ideal candidate will possess a Degree or Master's Degree in Architecture and a minimum of 15 years of relevant architectural design experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership position within a reputable property developer, mixed-use development company, or leading architectural consultancy.

Candidates should demonstrate proven experience leading the design and delivery of large-scale residential, commercial, hospitality, and mixed-use developments. Strong expertise in design management, consultant coordination, authority approvals, value engineering, and project delivery is essential. Exposure to high-rise developments and integrated mixed-use projects will be highly advantageous.

The successful individual will be a commercially aware design leader with strong conceptual design capabilities, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to balance creativity with practical construction, operational, and financial considerations. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design platforms is expected.

Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and team development capabilities are critical, together with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while driving high standards of design quality, innovation, governance, and execution.
