The Company

The organisation is the real estate arm of a noted global institutional investor with an impressive $50bn AUM portfolio. For a number of years, it has been aggressively growing its APAC real estate investments including direct and indirect investments, partner investment platforms and associated real estate ecosystem, including PropTech, renewables and similar, the latter underlining a strong commitment to long-term sustainability.Having established Singapore as its APAC HQ, it is presently building its core regional team. This includes a need to appoint a suitably-experienced Manager for Sustainability as part of its CSR commitment.

 

The Position

Reporting to the Global Head (CSR), the appointed individual will enjoy a multifaceted role to support sustainable investments across the firm’s APAC real estate portfolio whilst carefully balancing ESG goals with business objectives. The objective of the position is the integration of ESG into the Real Estate portfolio and the translation of corporate vision into activation. Leading the function, this will include holistic responsibility to research, appraise and advise APAC trends with respect to climate change / ESG-related themes and the potential resultant impact analysis upon real estate investment country-by-country and regionally. Necessarily, the appointed Manager will steer the APAC development and implementation of the firms’ sustainable investment strategy framework, against which proposed investments, or existing portfolios will be benchmarked and with resultant strategic advice provided to the Executive Committee. At a micro-level, there will be a need to integrate ESG factors into the investment process (pre-acquisition, asset management and development) whilst recommending specific actions to uphold strategic direction and the promotion of ESG practices. The latter will include a need to monitor and assess ESG compliance and performance relating to individual assets and/or asset portfolios including CSR advice relating to Hold/Sell decisions or project initiatives required for investments to meet ESG standards. Last, but not least, this position will provide appropriate internal and external thought-leadership and participation in forums with respect to sustainable real estate investment.

 

The Person

Interested individuals should offer Degree and Master’s degree in relevant disciplines whilst complemented by 7-10 years’ relevant post-graduate experience within the ESG/Sustainability sector (preferably incorporating support to real estate investment or asset management teams). In addition, interested applicants will offer excellent analytical and critical-thinking with a tacit appreciation for ESG-related regulatory and industry frameworks as applied to real estate matched by creative flair to drive innovative solutions to align ESG goals with commercial objectives. Naturally, passion and experience should be complemented by outstanding written and verbal English communication skills to enable stakeholder liaison at all levels and to enable the leadership of inter-team projects.
