The Position

Reporting to senior site leadership, the Senior Engineering & Maintenance Manager will be responsible for leading the engineering function across manufacturing operations while overseeing strategic capital investment projects. The role will ensure the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of all production equipment, utilities, facilities, and engineering systems while driving the successful delivery of facility expansion and modernization initiatives.

The successfulcandidate will manage the full lifecycle of engineering projects, including planning, design coordination, procurement, contractor management, installation, commissioning, qualification, validation, and operational handover. The role will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements.

In addition to project leadership, the position will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs, calibration activities, utility operations, and asset management systems to maximize equipment uptime and operational performance. The role will also support continuous improvement initiatives, engineering governance, documentation control, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance across the manufacturing facility.

Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Validation, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Regulatory Affairs teams, the Senior Manager will ensure engineering systems and facility operations comply with cGMP, PIC/S, and other applicable pharmaceutical industry standards while supporting future business growth and manufacturing capacity expansion.

The Person

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 8–10 years of progressive engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior management position within pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, healthcare manufacturing, or other highly regulated production environments.

Candidates should demonstrate proven experience managing engineering maintenance functions, utilities, facility infrastructure, and capital investment projects. Experience leading greenfield, brownfield, expansion, or facility upgrade projects within GMP-regulated manufacturing environments will be highly advantageous.

Strong knowledge of cGMP, PIC/S, commissioning, qualification and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), HVAC systems, cleanroom environments, purified water systems, utilities management, and engineering documentation is essential. Exposure to international pharmaceutical manufacturing standards and project management methodologies will be preferred.

The successful individual will be a hands-on engineering leader with strong project management capabilities, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and vendors. Strong communication, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills, together with a commitment to quality, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, are critical for success in this position.
