  • Career Development Opportunity

  • Location: Singapore

The Company

Headquartered in Singapore, whilst enjoying the support of noted Private Equity Real Estate (PERE) platforms, the company is at a tipping point for growth across SE Asia in the investment, development and operation of data centres. Steered by a seasoned, cosmopolitan management team, the company combines deep know-how across the real estate and data centre life-cycle whilst culturally nimble, entrepreneurial and empowering. It is poised to satisfy the growing demand for data across the region with rapid growth anticipated from early 2023 following the launch of its initial projects. As a result, there is now a need to build a core team and this includes the appointment of a Cost & Commercial Manager.

The Position

Based in Singapore, whilst reporting to the COO, the appointed individual will play a key position to carefully steer all regional projects with respect to cost and project controls, planning and procurement complete with the development of cost and contract management processes for consistent implementation. Whilst gradually building a small team, the position will include managing tender processes whilst driving cost effectiveness (including price negotiation), cashflows, governance and the crafting of project cost plans. Necessarily, this will include building contractual terms, managing payment schedules, milestone management Incorporating project planning and forecasts), claims management and advising stakeholders with respect to risk and/or cost variances.

This is a superb opportunity to join a company at its nascent stage of growth. In particular, there is an opportunity to build the cost/commercial management function from scratch within the high-growth data centre sector. As a result, long-term career development and sector exposure across ASEAN is anticipated.

The Person

Interested candidates will offer a good Degree in Engineering/Construction, at least 5 years’ experience as a cost/contracts/commercial manager (FIDIC) whilst supporting high-value development projects and, ideally, around 10-15 years of combined professional experience. A RICS accreditation is preferred as well as experience managing China-based materials and equipment suppliers. The role will require broad attributes including attention to detail, strong stakeholder engagement/management, extremely strong ability to plan and prioritise whilst positively influencing supplier negotiations. Prior exposure to Data Centre construction would be advantageous.

The company will offer a salary in the region of c$90-110k plus bonus.
