The Company

Our client is a conglomerate expanding across Southeast Asia, primarily focused on the downstream energy sector. The group is involved in fuel trading, importation, storage, logistics, and retail fuel distribution. The organization operates through several affiliated entities and continues to expand its operational footprint while strengthening governance and strategic investment capabilities. In addition to its core energy-related businesses, the group is also actively expanding into the real estate, education and healthcare sectors as part of its broader diversification strategy.

As part of its next phase of growth, the group is seeking a Head of Investments to oversee portfolio management, evaluate investment opportunities, and provide financial insight to support long-term capital allocation decisions across the organization.

The Position

The Head of Investments will play a key role in supporting the group’s strategic growth agenda by overseeing investment analysis, portfolio management, and capital allocation decisions across the organization’s business interests. Working closely with the CEO, CFO, and senior leadership team, the role will focus on developing robust financial models, evaluating new investment opportunities, and monitoring the performance of existing investments across the group’s operating entities.

Key responsibilities include:

Portfolio Management & Investment Oversight

• Manage and monitor the performance of the group’s investment portfolio across multiple business entities
• Develop frameworks for evaluating investment returns, capital deployment, and portfolio performance
• Provide regular analysis and reporting on portfolio health, risk exposure, and investment performance

Financial Analysis & Investment Evaluation

• Lead financial modeling, valuation analysis, and investment appraisal for new projects and strategic initiatives
• Evaluate potential investments, partnerships, acquisitions, and capital expansion opportunities
• Support scenario analysis and financial forecasting to guide strategic investment decisions

Strategic Capital Allocation

• Work closely with senior leadership to develop disciplined capital allocation strategies aligned with long-term business objectives
• Provide financial insights to support infrastructure investments, operational expansion, and strategic partnerships
• Identify opportunities to optimize asset performance and enhance portfolio value

Governance & Investment Reporting

• Establish structured investment review processes and reporting frameworks across the group
• Support investment committee discussions through robust financial analysis and strategic insights
• Ensure transparency and disciplined evaluation of investment decisions across the organization

The Person

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline, with advanced qualifications such as CFA, MBA, or equivalent considered advantageous. He or she will bring 10 - 15 years of experience in investment management, corporate finance, financial analysis, or portfolio management, ideally within energy, infrastructure, trading, or capital-intensive industries.

The successful candidate will have strong expertise in financial modeling, valuation, investment analysis, and portfolio performance management, with a proven ability to translate complex financial data into strategic insights for senior leadership.

Prior exposure to emerging markets or the Myanmar business environment will be advantageous. The role requires strong analytical capability, commercial judgment, and the ability to operate in a dynamic business environment where disciplined capital deployment and strategic financial oversight are critical to growth.
