The Company

The company is a market-leading vertically-integrated conglomerate, driven by petrochemicals as a core pillar but with a multitude of additional Business Units and integrated corporate services functions. It now seeks an experienced Agricultural Specialist to oversee its Hydroponic / Vertical Farming operation and which supports its in-house community services solution.

 

The Position

The appointed Agriculturalist will play a pivotal role leading, planning and implementing hydroponic / vertical farming projects from design concept, procurement, construction and maintenance of equipment whilst taking responsibility for all key technical and budget decisions. Whilst strongly empowered to experiment, the role will consider the optimum selection of each plant species, life-cycle management (calendar planning), species productivity / yield and relative cost effectiveness; this will include necessary studies relating to soil, water, plants /seeds to refine planting and cultivation practices with a view to optimising results for gardens, leisure parks and sports stadia pitches and similar. Moreover, additional R&D, experimentation will identify external factors that may influence crop success (insects, wildlife, nutrition, climate) whilst developing hydroponic processes that will diminish or counter their impact. The Agriculturalist will oversee farm operations, hire and develop a core operational team whilst establishing acceptable benchmark standards for productivity including grow/harvest timetable and nutrient intake processes.

The Person

Interested candidates should offer a Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture and a minimum of 5 years’ experience specialised in hydroponic management. Current or prior Middle-East experience would be highly advantageous. Naturally, you will offer extensive expertise of botany and plant growth without soil complemented by strong research and problem-solving capability as well as sound awareness of industry trends and technology developments within this field.
