The Company
Our client is a diversified conglomerate with a growing portfolio of businesses across energy, natural resources, infrastructure, and industrial sectors. The group has built an expanding presence across downstream petroleum distribution, mining resources, and power generation while actively evaluating new investments in energy infrastructure and related sectors.
As part of its long-term growth strategy, the organization is seeking to strengthen leadership across its energy platform. The group is consolidating its energy businesses under a single leadership structure to drive operational excellence, disciplined investment, and long-term energy infrastructure development.
The Position
The CEO – Energy will hold full executive responsibility for the group’s energy portfolio, overseeing strategy, operations, and growth across multiple energy-related businesses.
The role will lead the development and execution of the group’s integrated energy strategy covering downstream fuel operations, power generation, natural resource assets, and future energy infrastructure investments. The CEO will work closely with the board and senior shareholders to build a scalable energy platform capable of supporting long-term national infrastructure and industrial development.
This position requires a leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels, ensuring strong governance, operational performance, and disciplined capital deployment across the group’s energy assets.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the long-term strategy for the group’s energy portfolio
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities across downstream energy, power generation, and infrastructure
- Evaluate new investments in energy assets including power generation, renewable energy, fuel distribution, and energy infrastructure
- Build a diversified and sustainable energy platform aligned with regional market trends
Business & Operational Leadership
- Oversee multiple energy-related business units including fuel distribution, mining-linked energy resources, and power generation operations
- Ensure operational efficiency, reliability, and performance across energy assets
- Implement governance frameworks, operational systems, and performance management structures across business units
- Drive cost discipline, operational efficiency, and capital productivity
Investment & Capital Deployment
- Lead the evaluation and execution of major energy investments and infrastructure projects
- Oversee capital planning and large-scale investment programs
- Work closely with the group’s investment and finance teams to structure project financing and partnerships
- Ensure disciplined capital allocation and long-term return on investment
Government & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with government authorities, regulators, and industry stakeholders
- Represent the organization in energy policy discussions and industry forums
- Manage strategic partnerships with international energy companies, investors, and technology providers
Organizational Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing executive leadership team across the energy businesses
- Strengthen organizational structures, governance processes, and leadership capability
- Drive a culture of operational excellence, safety, and accountability across energy operations
- Align business units under a unified strategic vision for the group’s energy platform
The Person
The successful candidate will bring strong experience in energy project development, particularly within coal power, hydropower, renewable energy, or large-scale infrastructure projects. The individual should demonstrate a strong understanding of project structuring, energy policy frameworks, and infrastructure investment models. Experience engaging with governments, regulators, and development finance institutions will be valuable. The candidate should also possess strong commercial and negotiation skills and the ability to lead complex energy project developments from early-stage concept to implementation.
