Manufacturing head
US (West Coast)
The Company
Our client is a rapidly expanding supplements and pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation operating in a stringent GMP-regulated environment. With accelerating growth, strong commercial demand, and planned new plant developments, the company is entering a pivotal transformation phase. Operating to global standards—including FDA and EMEA—the business places high value on leaders with direct experience in plant set-up and exposure to FDA inspections or FDA dealings, as these capabilities will underpin future expansion.
The organisation offers a highly entrepreneurial environment where performance is genuinely rewarded. In addition to a competitive executive compensation package, the CEO will have access to profit-sharing incentives and milestone-based bonuses, directly linking leadership impact to long-term enterprise value creation.
The Position
Reporting to the Board/Shareholders, the Chief Executive Officer will lead the company’s strategic direction, operational excellence, and commercial performance. A significant priority will be the establishment, commissioning, and scaling of new manufacturing plants, alongside strengthening current operational capabilities and regulatory readiness.
Key accountabilities include:
Setting and executing the long-term strategy, including new plant set-up, greenfield expansion, and future capacity-building programmes.
Providing end-to-end leadership across manufacturing, supply chain, regulatory affairs, quality, customer service, HR/HSE, finance, and commercial functions.
Ensuring all facilities—new and existing—achieve and sustain full compliance with cGMP, EMEA, and FDA regulatory standards, including readiness for FDA audits and inspections.
Leading the organisation through FDA-facing interactions, audit preparation, and compliance strengthening.
Overseeing the design, budgeting, installation, and validation of new production plants, ensuring regulatory alignment from concept to commissioning.
Driving commercial growth, profitability, and new product introduction pipelines.
Managing capital expenditure and long-term investment, including major plant build-out budgets, equipment selection, and technology upgrades.
Leading expansion activities, investment opportunities, acquisitions, and alliances that strengthen manufacturing capability.
Building organisational capability through talent development, workforce planning, and leadership succession aligned with plant operations.
Working closely with the Head of Finance to ensure strong financial governance, planning, and risk management.
Fostering a culture of operational discipline, innovation, performance excellence, and regulatory integrity.
Compensation Structure:
The role offers a competitive senior-level package complemented by profit-sharing incentives and milestone-based performance bonuses, rewarding delivery of plant set-up milestones, operational scale-up, revenue growth, and profitability targets.
The Person
The ideal candidate is an accomplished executive with deep operational leadership experience within GMP-regulated pharma or nutraceutical manufacturing, coupled with a proven record in greenfield plant development and facility expansion. Experience dealing with FDA inspections or U.S. regulatory environments is a major advantage.
The preferred profile includes:
Proven success as CEO, COO, Managing Director, or senior executive within pharma/nutraceuticals.
Strong track record in setting up, commissioning, and scaling manufacturing plants (greenfield or brownfield), including facility design, equipment qualification, and regulatory approval.
Prior exposure to FDA inspections, FDA audits, or direct FDA-related interactions—highly preferred.
10–15 years of experience in GMP operations with deep understanding of FDA/EMEA regulatory frameworks.
Expertise in technical transfers, validation, qualification, troubleshooting, process scale-up, and commercial manufacturing.
Experience managing cross-functional teams across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, regulatory, HR, finance, and commercial functions.
Degree in engineering or a scientific discipline; MBA preferred.
Strong commercial and strategic acumen with the ability to identify opportunities, negotiate major agreements, and drive revenue and profit growth.
Superior communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership capability.
Hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in fast-paced and high-growth environments.
Ability to translate strategy into operational execution—especially across new facility establishment and regulated manufacturing systems.
The role is suited for a visionary CEO who can build manufacturing plants from scratch, build people teams, and build sustained enterprise value, supported by a performance-linked compensation structure.
