  • Concept/Design/Layout Leadership Position
  • Dynamic, International Firm
  • Location: HCMC, Vietnam

The Company

The organisation is a dynamic, well-respected investor and developer of broad vertically-integrated retail-focused business units comprising food, F&B, non-food and shopping mall concepts. With a strong brand presence and growing portfolio underpinned by massive investment commitment, it plans continued growth across Vietnam over the next 5 years. Supported by a massive investment commitment, its Retail division will continue its fast-paced growth over the next 5 years to sustain market leadership. The firm will make a couple of senior appointments by Q1 2022 including a Head of Mall Concept & Design.

The Position

Reporting to a Senior Retail Director whilst leading a team comprising interior designers, architects and graphic designers, the appointed Concept & Design Director will steer conceptual and design processes for legacy and new Malls within a fast-growing retail portfolio. The Director will create new conceptual ideas for the use of space whilst overseeing the mall development program including layout and block design. The appointed individual will hold responsibility for effective project co-ordination with Product Development, Project Development and Leasing/Marketing teams whilst also establishing all space, layout and branding guidelines and standards relating to design and concept. The latter will extend to managing tenant design reviews for each store for maximum efficiency and commercialization. The role will drive, develop and implement portfolio-wide concept and design strategy to ensure that concept and tenant mix will be enhanced for mall positioning and optimum customer experience. There will be a supplementary need to support the expansion team (land acquisition) with respect to local authority design and planning approval processes. There will be a corresponding need to manage annual budgets, track the delivery of new mall and/or renovation/AEI projects whilst maintaining awareness of market trend data for future revision.

This position may best suit a rising star, and current no. 2, who aspires to a leadership position.

The Person

Interested candidates will be degree-holders (Architecture / Interior Design) offering around 8-10 years’ broad experience within retail concept and design including 2-3 years within a team leadership capacity. Those offering prior exposure to in-house ‘developer’ / Owner appointments will be strongly preferred.  This is a fast-paced, dynamic organization and interested candidates must be familiar working to meet tight deadlines with multiple concurrent projects complete with a resourceful ability to solve problems. Current or prior experience managing a team in Asia is also a strong preference.

The company will offer an attractive expatriate remuneration package.
