The Company 

The organisation is a well-established, boutique Real Estate fund manager comprising Core, Opportunistic and Separate Account fund strategies and with a diversified portfolio of assets (logistics, office, retail, student accommodation, data centre and hospitality) located across the first-tier APAC markets. The platform is looking to bolster its team with the appointment in an Engineering Manager in Osaka to support its Data Centre venture.

 

The Position       

Sitting within the Operating company the Engineering Manager will be fully responsible for all technical electrical and mechanical engineering matters relating to the design, development, management and operation of the Data Centre. This will be a broad role that includes internal/external stakeholder management, development of SOPs, design and equipment selection, capacity benchmarking and analysis and the development of critical infrastructure requirements through to post-development routine planned maintenance (switchgear, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling systems) as well as continuous improvement drives to improve capacity, efficiency, reliability and, of course, sustainability. Naturally, the overall objective will be to deliver optimised customer satisfaction and OPEX/CAPEX.

The Person 

To succeed in this role, interested candidates should offer a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Building Services Degree and, ideally, a Professional Engineer Licence and at least 6-8 years (or more) of working experience within critical facility engineering and operations management. Current Data Centre experience will be advantageous, including in-depth knowledge of essential DC facilities (generators, chillers, cooling towers, sub-stations, air handling, fire detection systems and similar) although transferable skills will be equally supported. Due to the cosmopolitan team environment, interested individuals will offer bi-lingual Japanese and English proficiency. Naturally, the selected individual will offer appropriate leadership experience and demonstrate strong attention to detail to drive technical, cost and quality management processes.
