The Company

Our client is a diversified industrial group with established operations in Myanmar across trading, distribution, and agricultural input sectors. The organization supports the country’s agricultural value chain through the importation, distribution, and marketing of fertilizer products, working closely with regional suppliers, government stakeholders, and nationwide distribution networks. As the business continues to expand its market presence and operational capabilities, the group is seeking an experienced commercial and operational leader to drive the next phase of growth within its fertilizer division.

The Position

The General Manager will hold full responsibility for the fertilizer business, overseeing commercial strategy, operational execution, and market expansion across Myanmar. The role requires a leader who can combine strategic planning with strong execution capabilities to drive sustainable growth while ensuring operational discipline across the supply chain.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing the overall business strategy to expand market share and strengthen the company’s presence in the fertilizer sector.
• Overseeing end-to-end operations including sourcing, importation, distribution, sales, and marketing activities.
• Strengthening relationships with government authorities, agricultural partners, and key commercial stakeholders across the country.
• Leading and developing a high-performing team across commercial, operations, and support functions.
• Monitoring market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.
• Driving operational efficiency, financial performance, and profitability through effective planning and budget management.
• Ensuring compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
• Representing the organization in industry forums, trade events, and strategic partnerships.

The Person

The successful candidate will bring strong leadership experience within the fertilizer, chemicals, agricultural inputs, or related industrial sectors, with a proven track record of managing complex commercial and operational environments. The ideal profile combines strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership, including experience overseeing supply chains, distribution networks, and market expansion initiatives. The candidate should possess strong stakeholder management capabilities, particularly in working with government bodies, industry partners, and regional suppliers, while also demonstrating the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is required, with a postgraduate qualification considered an advantage. Fluency in English is essential, and familiarity with the Myanmar business environment or regional agricultural markets would be beneficial. The role requires a leader who can adapt to evolving market dynamics and operate effectively within Myanmar’s business landscape while driving sustainable growth and operational excellence.
