The Company 

The organisation is a well-established, boutique Real Estate fund manager comprising Core, Opportunistic and Separate Account fund strategies and with a diversified portfolio of assets (logistics, office, retail, student accommodation, data centre and hospitality) located across the first-tier APAC markets. The platform is looking to bolster its team with the appointment in an Technical Manager in Tokyo to support its Data Centre venture.

The Position       

Sitting within the Operating company, the Technical Manager will be fully responsible for leading the design of a new hyper-scale DC whilst ensuring all work meets internal technical standards whilst meeting key project milestones (time, quality, price). This will include new site evaluation, local/regional equipment procurement and cost opimisation strategy underpinned by research relating to the latest DC technology to be incorporated into the design. Aside from supporting design, implementation and commissioning for new facilities, the appointed individual will provide sales technical support whilst analysing customer technical requirements.

The Person 

To succeed in this role, interested candidates should offer a Masters’ Degree (Mechanical/Electrical) and, ideally complemented by a Professional Engineer Licence or Japanese Engineer Certificate and at least 7-8 years exposure, as Consultant or Owner, to hyper-scale DC design and commissioning as well as support relating to site selection. Technical knowledge will include DC critical facilities (IT power, utility power, mechanical cooling systems). Due to the cosmopolitan team environment, interested individuals will offer bi-lingual spoken/written Japanese and English proficiency. Naturally, the selected individual will offer appropriate leadership experience and demonstrate strong attention to detail to drive technical, cost and quality management processes.
