The company is a leading Telecom operator in Myanmar. It currently serves around 20+ million customers across the country whilst delivering the best data and connectivity experience to the nation. In order to support the company’s continued growth, it now seeks the best minds in Myanmar. This includes an immediate need in Yangon to appoint an experienced Head of Sourcing and Supply Chain Management to create SCM strategies that increase efficiency and speed.

 

The Position

Reporting to the CFO, the Head of Procurement and SCM will serve as the overall leader for sourcing activities and SCM strategies. This includes optimizing warehouse operations and ensuring transparency in the procurement process. The appointed individual is expected to ensure that the company does business with only reputable, reliable, flexible suppliers by following the supplier vetting and approval process. Each purchase must follow company policy and procedure, and is executed at the best price, without sacrificing quality or service.

During delivery, the Head of Procurement and SCM should ensure follow-through on delivery and other terms of execution, as needed, acting as the main supplier contact. Managing disputes involving invoicing, price & quantity delivered, quality, and other terms, in cooperation with the respective purchase requester. Imported goods must not be delayed at customs, and import duties and taxes are minimized.

Finally, for transport and distribution matters, he/she must make sure that transport costs – for purchased goods and materials, as well as inventory items held in the warehouse that should be brought to a site or selling location are controlled and minimized.

 

The Person

Interested candidates must have Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and at least 7+ years of experience running the Procurement & Logistics function of a large or mid-sized company. Strong understanding of best practices for the Supply Chain process (including Procurement, Logistics, and Import) is required for this role. Relevant IT skills, including Excel; experience with an integrated purchasing system, such as ERP system is also important. He/She must have knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as very good English language skills, as the role will routinely interact with foreigners (internal and external to the company).
